Television studios at the European Parliament

Development of a custom absorbent material for the European Parliament's central hall.

The challenge

SNA Acoustic Consultancy undertook the design of the absorbent treatment for the television studios located in the central hall of the European Parliament, one of the most representative and architecturally demanding institutional spaces in Europe.

The project's complexity lay in the uniqueness of the location. The studios are integrated into the Parliament's grand central lobby, an open, high-volume space with strong symbolic and aesthetic significance. Any acoustic intervention had to guarantee maximum technical performance without altering the architectural identity or institutional image of the environment.

The solution

In this context, conventional commercial solutions were insufficient from both a technical and aesthetic standpoint. SNA therefore developed a specific acoustic project defining bespoke absorbent solutions, including the development of a new material with optimised acoustic properties and finishes adapted to the building's architectural language.

The result

The result was the implementation of a non-commercial treatment system, specifically designed for this environment, capable of controlling reverberation and improving sound quality in television broadcasts while harmoniously integrating into a space of the highest aesthetic and institutional standards. A project that reflects the ability to go beyond the standard catalogue, developing proprietary solutions when the environment demands it, combining material innovation, advanced acoustic design and architectural sensitivity.
